Does anyone have their pet loads for a cast bullet in a Rem. 700 heavy barrel that they would please share? It is for a .222
I will be using the older LEE Bator mold.
Thanks for any help!

I have that mould and a 788 chambered in .222 and have used 12 grains of 2400 to good effect on p dogs. Don’t have a h.b. 700 in .222; mine is a .22-250. I also have used the lee 55 grain copy of the RCBS design, but I like the Bator design.

I have 3 of the triple deuces and shoot CB's in two. One of the loads is 11 gr of RE-7 but others include 6.5 gr. of Unique, and 5 gr of Red Dot. My T/C Contender particularly likes that 5 gr. Red Dot load with the old Lee Bator style. None of these loads are particularly "hot" so they produce little pelt damage. Every barrel has a personality so you will have to experiment. The third rifle shoots CB's well but it really loves jacketed as hot as I can make them.

I had not thought about it but I have a 788 in 222 that I have not messed with much. I may just have to try cast in it (it did not excite me much with j words).

6.5 unique behind a 55 gr gas checked round nose cast hard. Don't remember the mold # but it is an old Ideal mold. Super accurate at 100 yards. I'm shooting it on a Rem. 700 BDL with a bull barrel with a lyman 10X scope.

Not sure what your twist rate is in that barrel but I load 14gr of H4895 behind 45-55gr cast. I have a 14" twist barrel on my savage. That load will turn a squirrel inside out. For lighter loads I run 3.4gr of trailboss.
