A buddy's wife called me today to help clean up his reloading things. He passed about 6 months ago and she now can go through his things. He had a 550 and reloaded 9mm and .38sp/.357 mag. Their son shoots .38/.357 so asked her to see if he would like the reloader, dies, bullets and cases. She didn't want to sell the items. He didn't want the 9mm things so I ended up with about 2000 115 gr LRN and LHP bullets, mixed head stamp brass, and Redding dies. I have a lot of Red Dot powder at home and need a min and max load as my load books don't show any loads. I use Red Dot in most of the rounds I load and finding Bullseye and Unique around me right now is like finding hens teeth. Could try 777 or FFFg the other powder I load a lot of but don't think they would work.

I have been using 3.8 gr of reddot under 120gr cast and 124 gr plated bullets if that helps

4gr range will do you well.

The old 1987 Hercules data showed 4.0 gr as max. The vast majority of the Alliant pistol data shows max values at less than the old Hercules data, so 4.0 gr might be +P by today's standards and methods.

I loaded 110s to 125s with Promo for a while. I think I ran anywhere from 3.6 gr up to 3.9 gr with no problems.

Pay attention to the OAL. With the small 9mm case and a bulky powder like Red Dot, it would probably be easy to get more pressure than wanted if you seat the bullets too deep and run near max powder charges.

I load the promo at 4 does not seem wild , of course alliant gives some data in there manual and then online does not list a load for same caliber powder , start at 3.5 and work your way up

+1 I like Red Dot/Promo 3.6~3.8 gr under a 120~125 gr boolit in 9MM. For me, the Lyman 358242 (120 gr.) chrony's @ 1100 fps over Promo 3.8 gr.

I shot many a 115 SWC out of my old Beretta 92S with 3.7 grains of Red Dot. It shot just fantastic, very low recoil, accurate to just over an inch at 25 yds with my then 30-year old eyes. I had no idea what they were sized to or what the bore diameter of that pistol was but those store-bought boolits were a joy to shoot. Ah, I yearn for those early years where a young man's fancy turned to thoughts of a fine pistol.

Fast forward 37 years and I've been pulling my hair out over getting the Lyman 120 TC to shoot as good as that little 115 SWC. Thus far, I have not. I hope your journey rewards you handsomely.
