Anyone have any experience with stop ring bullets?

Looking at a 8.15x46 normal single shot. Can i tell from a chamber cast if it is designed for a stop ring bullet. What happens to the stop ring when it is fired. Stop ring quite a bit larger than bore.

Looking at a 8.15x46 normal single shot. Can i tell from a chamber cast if it is designed for a stop ring bullet. What happens to the stop ring when it is fired. Stop ring quite a bit larger than bore.The stop ring will show up on a chamber cast, but should be not much greater (if any) than the case diameter. I always have thought of it as a sort of heeled bullet. The mold that came with a German stalking rifle I have incorporates it. My understanding is that it acts as a driving band - if I recall the ring diameter corresponds to the groove diameter of the rifling.
