I had a Marlin Golden 39A Mountie given to me.

I shot it for the first time yesterday. My old eyes don't work well with iron sights but at 25 yards the first three shots could have been covered with a nickel.

I had forgotten how accurate this old Marlins are. Mine is a 1967 gun.

I'm going to get a Skinner peep sight for it. If that works I'll be happy. Otherwise it's going to be a red dot.

Yep.

I think I'm going to order a Skinner peep sight for it.

Really nice old rifle. Good Score Buddy. The factory hardware/swivels really classes it up. uncle Mike

Burntfingers, Nice rifle.
My 39A Mountie is PRE golden. "M" serial number : built in 1955. it has a microgroove barrel.
Bought it at a local gun shop for $45 in about 1960. Nice and clean. Shoots very well.
Was my latest greatest squirrel rifle way back in early 60s.
