Dad bought this 686-1 brand new in 1988 and passed it on to me recently. Got to sling a little lead with it this morning and man, OH MAN, is it a solid shooter! Loaded up some Lee 358-158 RF's, powder coated and sized to .357. They drop right around 160-161 grains with reclaimed range lead. Tried about 10 different loads between 5-7 grains of W231. It's definitely not a clean load as far as powder fouling goes but 5.5 grains is like a 1080 FPS laser beam. 10 shots at 25 yards with a fairly wobbly rest gave me a group you could cover with a silver dollar--super impressed!

Cool. Makes me want to get another 6" 586.
I hope ya get the chance to shoot it a lot.
I heard a vicious rumor that if you don't fire your guns frequently,
they can get 'lot rot' like when a car sits for too long without being run.:kidding:

It was a safe queen most of its life but it will most certainly get shot a LOT now...
That’s good shooting to sir.
Dang! Awesome load and even better shooting!
