SHOT Show 2020 – Blackwater Ammunition's new 10x100mm caliber cartridge is a high-performance round designed to be used in any .50 BMG / 12.7x99mm weapon system by simply replacing the barrel, and to provide superior accuracy, range and ballistics for both military and law enforcement users

Blackwater Ammunition 10x100mm new cutting-edge caliber
It's not every day that we get to see a truly new cartridge, innovative in multiple ways. And yet, this is what Blackwater Ammunition showcased this year at the SHOT Show. The new Blackwater Ammunition 10x100mm caliber has been conceived to provide superior performance in terms of range, accuracy and ballistics, and to be compatible with any .50 BMG / 12,7x99mm caliber firearm with the replacement of the factory barrel with a new one – .50-caliber bolts and bolt carriers, firing pins, extractors and ejectors will work, since the round has the same OAL as a .50 BMG.

The 10x100mm is built around Blackwater Ammunition's own, patented two-parts extruded case that is 1mm longer than the .50 BMG case, manufactured following a patented process that ensures a uniform wall thickness and a unique shoulder dimension and angle that provides both superior strength and higher propellant capacity – an average of 30% more capacity than a .50 BMG.

The 10x100mm propels a 420-grains monolythic copper bullet at a muzzle velocity of 3.500 feet per second (approximately 1.066 m/s, compare to the average 2800 feet per second / approx. 850 m/s of, to say, .408 CheyTac), which remains supersonic at a distance of well over 1.8 miles (3 kilometers), by far surpassing .50 BMG and other typical long-range, interdiction and anti-matériel shooting calibers.

In order to make the 10x100mm reliable under high pressures with all actions – potentially including semi-automatics – the case has also been designed to provide sufficient strength on normally weak spots, such as the case neck. According to the Company, further information about the 10x100mm caliber will be provided in March during the IWA OutdoorClassics expo in Nuremberg, Germany.

Whenever I hear "the new cutting edge caliber" I yawn: "Another snake oil peddler comes along!"
Thanks, but no, thanks. I have molds, dies, powder, and loads already for a handful of highly successful calibres. Sell this nonsense to corrupt governments!

Agree with you. If it isn't broke...
That being said, it's exactly what they do. Sell it to corrupt gov't. Often subsidized by the U.S. government.

Try necking a 50 BMG down to 338, as you can get 4000 fps that way!
I know, as I've done it, keeping pressure levels to that of a normal military loading of the 50 BMG.
But, you better use solid copper lathe turned bullets if you want accuracy.

And how is this a meaningful improvement over the 416 Barrett?
