What would be considered a good standard deveation for boolit weight? Say you cast a 311041. Boolits weight between 172gr and 174grs. That would be 173grs. plus or minus 1 grns. Would that be good or should they be sorted by say 1grain increments, ie. 172, 173 174. Shooting them to see if there is any noticeable difference not withstanding. What's your experience?:coffee:

Mumblypeg,

172 to 174 is close enough for me and the rifles I am shooting the boolits through :)

Depends. If casting revolver bullets, if I get a 5 grain bell curve - no big deal because the weight differential at short differences is not going to impact accuracy.

For Black Powder Cartridge bullets (400gr to 570grs) - I keep my rhythm constant to maintain a 1 -2gr bell curve. Then separate the bullets into 0.5gr batches. These bullets are used for 200 - 500 meter and also 1000yd's where grain weight consistency is required for good accuracy
