Any one know the procedure to properly adjust the new Remington 700 triggers?
A stainless one that I looked at the other day ( Brand new rifle , just out of the factory box ) had some kind of super hard adhesive ( looks like super glue ) in the threads of the sear screw. I could NOT move it a silly millimeter.
For years they have come with a " sealant " over the screws, easily popped off with the point of a sharp knife. This stuff that the adjustment screws are coated with now basically renders them to the point that they cannot be adjusted by the owner.

Any chance you could soak the action in solvent or heat the screw?

It may be the red Loctite which usually requires a BIT of heat, not much. I bought a Rem last year, the trigger was the older type but it also had the red thread sealant. After freeing the screws I worked on the trigger a lot and could never get what I wanted for good results. I bought a trigger from Trigger Basix and am really pleased with it, probably the best I've used and in my opinion well worth the cost.
