Marlin Camp 9 recoil spring

A while ago I did some testing on the recoil springs.
Three springs used.
Stock 9mm, high speed 9mm, high speed 45acp.
All cycled fine.
Not really that much difference in accuracy.
Charging handle pull was noticeably different.
High speed 45acp was much harder to pull back.
In the testing, I didn't check to see if the bolt went all the way back to hit the buffer.
Should have done it, but I forgot.
Now if all three springs cycle the action.
I'm thinking the bolt might be hitting the buffer on all three.
Wouldn't it be better to keep the 45acp spring in it to save the buffer????
I'd rather have the high speed 9mm spring, because of the charging.

Why not just plan the change the buffer every few years?

I would think that having too much spring has its own risks as you go into battery more forcefully than designed.

This. Those buffers disintegrate over time from use, cleaning solvents, etc.. I keep a few extras which reminds me I should get a few more for my 45.

I'd use the heaviest lb spring that would still function with your lightest loads you intend to use in it . The one I had years ago flung brass a country mile . Foolishly sold it for that reason .
