Here is a cost break down of both what I deem necessary and what additional upgrades I have to offer to make 7mm cal bullets from various jacket materials using my dies.

First of all I recommend using a Lee Classic Cast press with my BTSniper premium dies. I offer an improved version of the Lee Classic Cast press that I have modified specifically to handle the pressures of swaging. This press has modified linkages that produce over twice the leverage of the stock press and comes with a new threaded ram and auto eject set up.

Should the customer already have the Lee Classic Cast press all that is needed is my auto eject set up and the press will be good to go for use with my dies.

5.7x28 for .284 cal jackets

30 cal bullet shown above, I have made excellent 6.5mm bullets from scrap 5.7 brass because I was able to use the power of a hydraulic press but I feel the 5.7 brass would make an even better 7mm jacket able to be drawn down and swaged in my Lee Swage press. An even better option would be to use the new 17WSM rim fire brass. This brass is already very close to the 7mm diameter needed to make perfect bullet with.

$199.00 neck expander for 5.7 brass
$498.00 draw dies to go from .316-.281 with the 5.7 brass
$69.00 draw die push threw base punch

$766.00 add on

Draw down available 30 cal jackets for 7mm jackets....

This would be a great option and very easy.

Good shooting and swage on!

Of all the calibers I listed in my updated vendor page here this one has seen the most views in the last week or so.

I already have a set of dies in stock and a reamer for the 7mm. It is a standard 7s ogive profile. I do get a few inquires requesting a high BC bullet like the SMK or Berger Hybrid. I may just have to look into it a bit.

Those of you interested please fee free to leave questions in this thread or any of my caliber threads.

Swage on!

Number of views of this 7mm caliber have doubled since I last replied.....

I am looking to have a custom reamer made to allow us to make high BC 180 grain bullets along the lines of the Sierra MK and Berger hybrid.

All of you that are checking out this thread let me know if it hunting bullets or long range match bullets you seek to make.

I am very interested in a die setup to produce 180gr hybrid style 7mm bullets. I have sent you an email already. Hopefully you have time to check it out. Thanks.

pew pew, welcome to the forum!

BT Sniper I was just talking to a friend yesterday who was asking about building jacketed bullets at home. It hurts me to see precious 5.7 brass going out of circulation.

What other old brass is close enough to use? Specifically for 338 caliber bullets? Are actual jacket cups sold to the public?
Thanks!

Thought I had better bump this up the top. I am still interested in a set of dies to do a 180/184 hybrid for target shooting. :)

I sent off plans for awesome 7mm reamer couple weeks ago. Expect to have reamer in hand in a couple of weeks.

I designed it to be a nose profile halfway between the Sierra 180 and their 175 grain match king bullets.

So I'll have a slight secant 11.5s ogive nose profile with a .058" meplat and a 9 degree boat tail down to base diameter of .218" which should give a boat tail length of about .220"

Nose length should be about .750" while the Beger 180 grain hybrid has a nose length of about .850 and the Sierras about .720"

With the slightly shorter nose length vs. the hybrids it will be a little more forgiving I expect and will shoot well in a broader range of 7mm chamberings.

I expect great things from this design. It is very similar to my 6.5mm designs and that bullet has been shooting incredibly well for me.

I will be using a 1.3" length 30 cal jacket drawn down to 7mm. I have drawn down the same jacket for my 180 grain 6.5mm bullets, so I expect I should be able to get up to around 190 open tipped bullets in 7mm from the same jacket.

I'll keep everyone posted.
