Here's a brief update.

Things are progressing. The Art's stain did give the grips just a slightly browner hue, which is what I was going for. Currently applying hand rubbed coats of tung oil. Here we are with three coats so far

Fortunately the pores were nicely filled by Mr. Ahrends' finish, so I only ended up sanding one coat in. Once things get to the sheen I want, I'll buff with some fine bronze wool and Renaissance Wax.

Stay tuned.

Looks a lot better. They did originally have a pretty strong pink hue to them

Beautiful !

I'm a grip junkie but only for real woods ...NO Laminates.
Kim Ahrend only used the real woods and he did an excellent job .
My last set were Ebony and on a stainless 1911 AMT . I requested unfinished but things with Kim were happening and I received finished grips so I just left the sprayed on finish ...But !
You have inspired me to take the finish down and re-finish them in tung oil . They look good and with the tung oil , the finish has that smooth velvety , nice to the touch feel .

Thanks Patrick , you have been an inspiration and your grips look great !
