I picked up an NOE 190 GC Hunter mould and wonder if the meplat is large enough to use in my Marlin 30-30. I know I can make it a two shot safely.

I would not be concerned with a flat nose like that. I have not checked but I sometimes wonder if those magazine ignitions were with a full magazine where there was a bit of weight involved also. I used a round nose bullet with a softer alloy and flattened the nose using a flat nose punch. Got a deer with it a 140 steps from my tree. The alloy would permit water hardening and I sized them with the flat nose then heated them in an oven and water dropped them. That looks like you would have to crimp a bit forward.

The meplat should be ok, but That is an awful lot of boolit sticking out of the front of that. Bear in mind that your 30-30 is likely designed to work with a COAL of 2.550 inches. Were you to crimp on the edge of that forward .311 band, you would still have OAL of nearly 2.7 inches. If you crimp further out on the curve, you run the risk of the boolit setting back under recoil. And that can play heck with groups as the pressure change induced by the shortened boolit causes stringing.

I may make up a few rounds to see how they function first,if good, then I’ll work on accuracy.

If the Marlin is a Microgroove, the nose section is too small. The bullet will not stay aligned as it goes down the bore, an accuracy will stink. Something that is full groove diameter to within 1/4" of the ogive will do much better.

It the gun is Ballard rifled, ignore the above,

I actually got it for my 308 Mauser, in which it does a decent job. My son has a 94 Winchester that may also get tried in.
