Picked up one of these the other day. Recoil pretty snappy but am used to heavy recoil after all of these years. But choice of carry ammo has me wondering. Have seen 9MM short barrel advertized and wonder how much more of an advantage it is over my Winchester Supreme or Hornady Critical Duty. Those are +P and is that wasted in a short barrel pistol? Anyone have any comments regarding this?

Take a look at the link. Lucky Gunner did some fairly extensive penetration and expansion tests in numerous calibers. They tested most of the popular defense loads in a variety of barrel lengths:

I can't speak from personal experience. I just did a search on youtube for short barrel 9mm ammo tests and came up with a number of videos on the subject. Many had ballistic gel test with them.
If you look at those, I expect you would get a good idea what to expect.
