I had heard of flat band 94 Winchesters, but I hadn't seen one before. A friend brought this 1949 carbine over for TLC. The front sight is wrong, obviously. I shot a decent 4 shot group offhand at 40 yards with Federal ? grain factory loads, but they were 4" low. My 1952 94 has milled bands. The '49 model is marked .30 WCF; my '52 is (was) marked 30-30 Winchester. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200311/0d63fd0a252040aaaca02888d561f37b.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200311/4989f2c636e4618aebe0f3d8067f2889.jpg

Nice, very nice. Haven't seen very many of them. Looks to be in good shape for a '49 birthdate. Like the antique trunk also. Bet if you lifted the lid the pirate treasure would just pour out!

My friends dad( or his friend - not clear on who) put varnish on the stocks without removing them[emoji849]. I've already changed the front sight back to proper. DG- the only treasure in there is home made jellies and quilts, dang it. Thanks curdog! Floyd pulled a muscle playing fetch with hisself but he's better now.

I’ve got a 1948/49 model 94 that’s a 30 WCF. It’s the long wood fore end but not a flat band. It likes 15 gr of 2400 and the 311041.

Hey ya got to hold and shoot it !!Guess which one was the most fun to shoot? They named the 50 AE well- my hand was going "Ayee" after one magazine.....
The 94 was fond of my CB loads- probably the only ones ever thru it.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200320/66e1344891764362634259551e1baf80.jpg

Having shot the Supermags, the BFR 454 and 475... I can understand that. But what a ride !!"An impressive piece of heavy machinery" is the nicest thing I can say about the DE! For about the same weight, I'd rather have the 94 in my hands any day.
