Nice collection of 45-70's. I have a few myself and another in the mail coming my way. Have a collection of molds to feed them as well. The bug bit me on my first 45-70, a short barrel H&R. I have a Pedersoli Sharps coming and can't wait to shoot it. Bought a global front with a spirit level and a good tang sight for it. If it shoots as good as my Brother-in-laws sharps I'll be happy.

Just noticed your fairly new here, so welcome to the forum. The members here are a great bunch of guys and gals and will help with almost anything.

How are the No 3s to shoot the metal butt plate and light weight must make them painfull with light to factory loads. I've had No 1s in 45/70 heavy load would beat you into submission in short order with near 458 mag loads.

Nice group of rifles. At one point years ago I made a concerted effort to not buy any more .45-70 single shots as it seemed they dominated my collection. Of course sometimes you have to buy a caliber you don't need another in if the gun is just something you love the looks of. I love the .45-70, but hate to have too many of any caliber; even if it's one I love.

The Marlin can probably hang with them accuracy wise so it's ok.[emoji3]

i love the .45-70 cartridge and have had at least 9 rifles chambered for it, the last and best is a semi-custom that will only chamber paper patched cartridges loaded to the brim with real holy black powder. the way that cartridge deserves to be made and shot. i love it all!

rfd, if we had a "like" button, I would have hit it on your post.

Nice collection east. I shot the old war horse for a couple decades and never had a disappointing moment, on game or paper.. Figgered if a little was good, more is better so, got myself a Shiloh Montana Roughrider in 45-90. Haven't looked back. Is it any better? I doubt it but, I LIKE it better...lol!

Nice collection of .458 thumpers. They are fun to shoot. I’ve had 2 rolling blocks, a navy arms and pendersoli, an old 1895 RB marlin, an 1886 winchester project carbine but the only one that I have now is a Uberti 1876 winchester in .45-60. Made the brass for it from my neglected .45-70 brass and 292 gr bullets from my lyman mould so it’s kind of a .45-70. I just didn’t shoot them enough over the years to justify keeping them and interests change.
