I picked up an old stock for next to nothing because nobody know what it's for. I'm curious. Any ideas what this goes to?

My guess is for an Ithaca 37.

Unfortunately it's neither of those. I have both of those guns, and they're both notched in the front for the trigger guard. This one is not. The receiver must be rounded on the bottom.

Maybe a model 12 Winchester.

The model 12 is one that I do not have, but unfortunately as I look up photos online, I see that the front of a buttstock for a model 12 is also inletted for the back end of the trigger guard. That's what seems unusual about this one, as it's round with no inletting for the trigger guard tang.

Pretty sure it's a model 50 Winchester

I do believe you’re right! I found photos online, and one showed the front where it connects with the receiver. It looks identical. The combined amount of knowledge and experience on this forum is impressive. Thank you.

the hole in the end is too big for a mod. 12. but, as said the checkering screams winchester; possibly mod 50 because that size hole is common on most auto's. always wanted a mod. 50 trap.

You guys are right. The checkering on the Winchester Model 50 stocks I found photos of online is identical to the checkering on this one.

Winchester pre-64 checkering is distinctive because the individual diamonds are short and blocky. Normal checkering has diamonds that have a length to height ratio of roughly 3 to 1. Winchester is around 2 to 1.
