My little Ruger showed up yesterday, chambered in .257 Bob. I'm torn on mounting optics on but do have a lonely 2.5X8X36 sitting downstairs, first range trip will be on the irons and see what my tired old eyes say. With the price for new brass, I thought I'd just get some factory cartridges but they proved to be a bit tough to turn up in town, I did get my grubby mitts on a few boxes though. I will definitely load up on brass for the Roberts.......

Very nice rifle, love a mannlicher stock. Pure class, my Ruger #1V was yours’ big brother in .25-06. Killed a bunch of whitetails with it. Sorry that I sold it but I don’t hunt anymore anyway.

Nice, very nice. with that configuration, I could put up with a rather large grouping. Hopefully, it'll do a lot better than that for you.

Me likey the stock, just gorgeous, the only thing I would change on mine is the stock to one like that. Words are not gracious enough to describe it.

Dak47, I’ve sent you an email about some .257 components.

Thank Y'all for the kind words!

Can I borrow it?

Sure..... You can take it grizz hunting here in B.C. ;-)

I appreciate it but sadly it's in B.C. Canada and getting components across the line is a exercise in futility. Good thing is I get to build a Texas collection also but AR's and a 45-70 for hog hunting dominate so far.....

Couldn’t help myself, I had the scope for over 2 years before breaking the cellophane. Have to see about a set of lower rings.... It is set way back but when you throw it up at 2.5X it is perfect with both eyes open

I was looking at that same model in 6.5x55, but I went another route. Still looking for a good #1 at a great price. What really caught my eye was the stainless and wood combo. Right beside the displayed #1 was a gorgeous fiddleback maple stocked bolt action in 6.5x55 in stainless with a sporter octagon barrel. Congrats on that beauty Dak.
