My 30-30 93 Mauser is back from the beauty shop. A friend slimmed and refinished the stock and GAVE me the Weaver K6W already mounted! He had it for 9 months - so after selling my lever 30-30 months ago- I was missing 30-30 bad. I moved the scope forward and square for my hold[emoji848]and tightened every thing. I used 3 shots adjusting the scope; the next four were almost touching at 40 yards. I managed 3 in 2" at 100yards. 20.2grs ( 1.6cc) IMR 4198, Lee C309170F (180grs)
Still a 30-30 fan!https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200306/88e81b9f0a48ec322a4a49c5a5f1e713.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200306/ebab64d33ddc4d8cd635e4f246fff73e.jpg

We’re pretty, I like it nice and clean! I use that same dipper only with RL7 , shoots good and kills dears too!

I really like that rifle. I've developed a thing for small ring Mausers the past couple of years.

Thank you all. I’ll put the K10F back on with its lower rings when these loads are gone. Spring Turkey season is about a month away. Perhaps a gobbler will visit the smoker.
That K6W is heavier than it was 45 years ago somehow.....

Nice slim looking rifle ! Tell us about the conversion to a rimmed cartridge . Is it a single shot? Or will it feed from the magazine still ?

That has to be the sweetest looking 30-30 bolt gun I've laid eyes on.

Nice slim looking rifle ! Tell us about the conversion to a rimmed cartridge . Is it a single shot? Or will it feed from the magazine still ?It feeds well surprisingly. It doesn't feed the Lee 113F very well or anything with a large meplat. The magazine will hold 4 cartridges at most and still feed. The minor modifications made are in an old thread in the Barrel Works section.(Barrel nut on SR Mauser) It looks good from a distance like lots of home sportered Mausers, but from the get go it shot beautifully; so minor things become unimportant. It's definitely a favorite shooter- I got lucky I believe!

Nice looking. What kind of wood is that? European walnut? Do you have a before picture?

I told ya that I stopped too soon. The slimming down looks good and I bet it feels better too.You were right and it does feel more lively. Do you know what kind of walnut this old Fajen is? A friend did a Mark X sigle shot in English walnut from Fajen(early 1980's) and it looked similar.

Did you rebarrel it or just rechamber it?

Sorry, I have no idea. I got it from a friends dad from work many moons ago($25). It was REAL bulbous then and the safety wouldn't work. If you cocked/loaded/cycled the bolt with the safety on, when you took safety off, the firing pin went bang.

I removed the 7x57 barrel. I had a Numrich 7.62x39 Large Ring 98 Mauser barrel, so my brother the machinist cut off the threads and rethreaded for Small Ring. I had him short chamber it on the lathe with the 30-30 reamer. I installed the barrel and finished the reaming by hand-in the Mauser the 30-30 must headspace on the shoulder due to the claw extractor. It was an idea floating around in my head until hpdrifter offered up that 1916 Oviedo sporter and we made a trade. After trying it with 7x57( it wouldn’t group well) the project began.

Oh man..... I just hate it when you put ideas in my head. I was raised up on Mausers with a $15 Spanish Mauser back in 1974 and just got over another SR Mauser project for a 35 Remington. Now I want a 30-30.
