The original post is elsewhere but Miha asked another member if he could repair his own mold. My problem was different as my alignment pins drifted out and the mold would not close. I think it was tapping the hinge bolt to release the (503) Boolits that did it. I did not have to push the pins out first but a vise was not nearly enough to push the pins back. It took about 5 tons of a 20 ton press to move those pins so if you try this at home try preheating the mold in the oven at 400F first.

I cross pined the 6 cavity MP Mold today. The closest standard pin size to what Miha uses is 3/32 so I drilled 4 holes and installed 4 roll pins. It's a deep hole for that size drill so I used cutting oil and cleared the bit of chips regularly especially after I passed through the alignment pin. I used 5/8 long pins that span the lower web. I made the holes .4 inches in from the outside of the mold centered on the alignment pins and that also splits the back wall of the handle groove. That's far enough from the face of the mold that the roll pins are behind the female pin recess. I used a small hammer to seat the pins and a pin punch to recess them a hair.

I think I heard the cross pins are standard on MP 6 cavity molds from now on.
