Hi all!
I have been a member for some time, but haven't posted before.
My name is Jocke and I am from Sweden. I think this forum is great, (i've learned a lot by reading other threads). I've been reloading for the past 12-13 years and have cast my own boolits for about three years. Last week I bought a Lyman 9mm mould (356632BV) on Ebay. Does anybody know what top punch to use when sizing these boolits?

Hello hopper, and welcome to the asylum!;)

I don't seem to find any mention of the Lyman 356632 mould in my reference material, so top punch advice is limited.

IF it is a flat nose, you could probably get by using any other 9mm flat nose punch that has a meplat as large or larger than your mould.

Otherwise, I'd advise obtaining a top punch with a cavity too large for your boolit, and then using some epoxy, JB Weld, or bedding compound in the cavity to form a "custom" fit to your boolits. Just coat one of your castings with some "release agent" and press the punch onto your boolit.

You'll find more exact directions elsewhere on the forum.

I haven't found it listed anywhere either.
It's a TC bullet and I think it will weight around 100 gr.

It looks like this:

Hopper/Jocke:

Welcome to the group!

#356632 was introduced by Lyman in their 1990 catalog, with the statement: "With the high demand for quality 9mm bullet desIgns, this new 100 gr. 9mm bullet offers a state-of-the-art truncated cone design for excellent feeding characteristics." It looks almost as though they just took 20 grains worth off the nose of the old #356402, which - as we've seen in recent posts - has a reputation for smooth feeding (it mimics the original Luger jacketed bullet of 1904-08 ). They recommend the same #402 nose punch. The -BV suffix seems to be some sort of identifier for the machine or operator making the blocks (or, possibly, a date code). The "750" below it (should appear on both blocks) is a "match number" to keep the block halves together during machining, finishing and packaging. This bullet last appeared in the 1998 Lyman Annual Product Catalog, so I guess it did not prove all that popular; maybe a bit light for most 9mm shooters. From what others say about the effect of a generous me'plat, though, it ought to do well on small game.

(I KNEW I kept all those old Lyman catalogs for a reason!)

GLM: WHY DO I SOMETIMES GET A "SMILEY" WHEN I HIT AN "EIGHT", AND OTHER TIMES, NOT???

Buckshot:

Thanks for the "fix", and the advice on how to avoid smiling when I don't want to.

Welcome Hopper_64.

My Lyman 356632 mould that I bought new in 1997 is a two cav also.
As Floodgate says, the #402 top punch works just fine.

You might check the as cast dia of your bullets.
My mould throws .358 dia bullets with WW.
So I size down to .356 for my 380 ACP, and leave .358 for my 38 Spl.
Nice bullet for the 380 pocket pistols and a nice gallery type bullet for the 38 Spl.

FYI, there is a 4 cav 356632 on Ebay right now but opening bid is $49.99
