Well I have been a member for 3 years and really only started asking questions lately. I have been reading post after post readying myself for my first casting session and once I started I just kept going.
I got my 45acp truncated cone mold in the mail today so I will be giving that a go soon.

"I have been reading post after post readying myself for my first casting session and once I started I just kept going." Kudos to you Padawan! It makes old men feel good to hear of effort and time invested for knowledge versus the I need an answer now club. There will be days, but those days can be tempered by what you have already absorbed. Be safe and enjoy and remember reloading saves you money, hehehehe.

The first couple drops of my 6 hole mold did have some wrinkled bullets. Early on I bought a hot plate and toaster oven
From the thrift store but couldn't find the hot plate. I dipped the corner in the mix and after a couple drops all was well.

Those boolits look terrible and are probably highly contaminated. Send them to someone licensed for proper disposal through a process called Argentine Mauser 7.65x53 MM. No special fee, send them to me. I will even spare you the trouble of encasing them in PC.

Seriously, those are some fine examples of 'getting things right.' I have had more than a few Lee molds that dropped them pretty, first cast, as well as SAECO, Lyman and NOE. The only mold(s) that did not drop as pretty as yours was when I forgot to wash them with hot soapy water with a good hot rinse before the first casting session.

I make my own checks, ASBBPC most boolits, but ESPC for GC boolits, especially those as pretty as yours. Good Job!

the 160gr will be sized and gc'd for my AR in x39, as dropped with pc in my mosin.

the 230gr will be pc'd and used in my 1911 for plinking.

It does help to do a lot of research before you start. Good looking boolits there. I did the same, researched and read everything i could possibly find on the subject. Had a mentor that shared with me what not to do, like chop up old car batteries for a little lead. Anyway I got right into powder coating watching Elvis Ammo and Fortune Cookie on u tube, never got into lubing with anything except LLAlox, and that was messy. Boolits look fantastic, show us some pics of your PC boolits, we love pictures. Your on the right site for just about anything. These guys and galls
Have just about done it all.

Good work brother. Keep us posted on how they shoot. All the research paid off in the form of some fine looking boolits. Let us see the powder coating results too. Remember that most of us have made a LOT worse start than you have, so congrats to you. It is a great feeling to know that you are no longer dependent on the changes of a political climate. You are fully addicted now!
