View Full Version : Bad news from Warne

I just got off the phone with Warne. I had called about my favorite scope base for all H&R and now Henry single shot rifles, the M681M. It has now been discontinued. I looked high and low, and finally found a single base for sale, and bought it.

The guy said they hardly sold at all. The new base to replace it is the M981M, however it is a downgrade. The M681M was a full rail of slots, you could put your scope where it needed to go, and fit both picatinny and weaver scope rings. The M981M is only 4 slots, two scope positions. If it doesn't work, you are SOL, same as the original weaver bases.

I'm hoping anyone who cares will email Warne and ask for the better product to be returned. Even if you don't care, just realize we are paying the same price for an inferior product. The contact link is found below.

.

I've cut extra slots in more than one rail to properly position a scope ( jes' sayin' )

Shouldn't have to do that but it's an option for sure. Warne is a company like any other, if something isn't making money for them then they just can't keep it in production.

Best way to solve the problem.

If it comes to that, I have nothing against milling some more slots. I'd much rather buy it though. Warne had it. There is no mystery, for some reason they did not sell well. I still would rather have the better mount. It doesn't hurt to try.

Might check Magpul or Evolution Gun Works for picatinny rails that have the correct hole spacing. Or just buy one that's blank and drill, and countersink holes to match the spacing you like. Magpul sells rails in various lengths and rail spacing with various hole spacing. But it's two holes, so not like the Warne. But might be one of their two hole rails has the spacing correct to line up with two of the H&R holes?
