And here is my M16A3 copy. She has a Blackthorne 1:9 upper with an Anderson bolt carrier group and everything else. Just waiting on the charging handle and mags to show up. Coyotes beware!

It looks like the image is a link to another forum where you need to register to be able to view images. So anyone here who isn't a member on that other forum won't be able to see the image.

I like it , my nephew wanted his built like what he had in iraq , so it had to have the non removable carry handle , and that meant a non f mark front sight , I have a a2 that I put together from parts, but years ago during a ban it had to have no bayonet lug so I put a 24 inch barrel on it and gave the daughter the bushmaster a1 hbar , and thats what 20 years now , back when bushmaster was not remington , she came in from preschool and saw me building it and asked if she could have one , she still has it . Something to be said for the looks of the older ones , even though most now are free floating handguards and carbines to boot .

Thanks. I really wanted the non-removable carry handle but the upper would have cost more than twice as much. My total cost on this rifle is still less than the cheapest factory carbine I see around here.

I dove headfirst into AR15 world a few years back when FN started selling them to the public. Yours looks just like the FN15 I bought. I soon started putting them together myself and sold that FN to my nephew. Good work!

Refreshing to see a nice 20" barrelled rifle , anymore all you see is stubby barrelled carbines , hope if shoot as good as it looks

I do like the looks of the twenty inch rifles , I like them on the range too ..... just glad I don't have to pack them around anywhere ;-)

I may get a Ruger AR-556 carbine at some point to go with it, but the full rifle version will always be my favorite.

Got my mags and charging handle, so I took off a little early to try out the rifle. I fired about 25 rounds of Russky steel case 55 grain FMJ .223's which are $4.00/20 around here. Every round fed, fired, and ejected properly. Once i got the sights dialed in, the rifle was showing about the same accuracy as my .30-30's at 65 yards. Didn't have time to take it out longer or try reloads but I'll try to do so soon.

I'm really impressed with this rifle for under $500.00 total. If you like shooting rifles with sights, the M16 style is just great. The rear is easily adjusted without tools and having two apertures at the ready is really handy. If more rifles had respectable sights like these, perhaps less shooters would just assume they can't shoot without a scope.

Put some more rounds through the rifle today. In spite of the fading light and my frozen fingers it still produces respectable groups at 75 yards, around 1.5". This doesnt sound like much, but is as good or better than all my other rifles except my .257 Roberts bolt action. I'm sure a real rifleman/woman could do alot better.

Put the sling on it and use it to steady those sights while sitting and you can duplicate those groups without a bench with a bit of practice.

Soldiers call the M16A2 a "musket" these days. We still have many of them in War Reserve here.

That's what I'm planning to do, sling should be here today.

I like muskets, carbines are hard for me to shoot accurately.

I to like the rifle length have a few carbines as they are so readily available , but the rifle is still my favorite .

Watch out for RUGER chambers that claim to be 5.56 often they are not.

Thanks for letting me know. I now have around 50 rounds through the Anderson/Blackthorne rifle and it functions 100% and is more accurate than I can take advantage of. Been shooting cheapo Tula steel case so far, hopefully I can soon try the reloads with Hornady slugs that my Zastava bolt action likes.

I like the A2 butt stock. Had a collapsible on my AR, traded it off for an A2. But I reckon I'm a dinosaur. Just didn't like the thing ratlling around against my head.

Several fixed but a lot more collapsible versions , though I prefer fixed and have more to assemble , I like the longer barrels also , but I find when putting them together I end up with different mixtures of parts depending on what I feel like or am building for.
