One Wrangler .22 lr wasn't enough.

Today I went to my LGS to look around and like I always do I left with another hand gun a Wrangler. Now I have two Wranglers a Bronze and now this one.

It's like tater chips, u can't have just one! Lol! Have to admit bought myself one and the wife decided she wanted one. Ain't a bad deal though I don't have to buy jewelry or flowers. ��

I'm going to get another as well. Probably another black one. My Single Six has become a safe queen- almost. The kid at the LGS told me that when customers look at the Wrangler vs. Heritage- 3 out of 4 take the Wrangler home. I simply smiled and said " Duh!"

You like these better than the Single sixes?
I always considered the Single Sixes as the "Holy Grail" of single action 22s.

A Single Six is better than a Wrangler, no question at all, but for the money the Wrangler is a good gun.

I have two of them also. I like them a lot, but I have noticed something about guns like this. It all depends on your expectations. If you like quality guns, and really like your old school Colts, S&Ws, and Rugers, and compare everything to them, then you probably won't care for the Wrangler. It's just not a Single Six, never will be. It can't compare to a classic quality revolver.

If, on the other hand, you like to tinker with cheaper guns and don't mind an economy-level gun so long as it's functional, then you'll probably love the Wrangler. People seem to compare them to either the Rough Rider or the Single Six. In my experience, it's pretty much between the two; far better than the Rough Rider, but certainly not a Single Six.

I bought one before Christmas , then went back and bought 3 more , kept the 2 bronze and gave the son and son in law the black and silver , I have a single six with only the long rifle cylinder and a old model single six with both cylinders , the single six is not as accurate as the wrangler I bought , the old model I gave to my father along with all my magnum ammo. Daughter in law wanted my bronze I told her they would just have to make do with the black one.

The Single Six is the pinnacle! What I meant was that having the Wrangler will keep the Single Six from the abuse that farm life heaps on a revolver. I had to walk a mile in driving rain a while back; I was SO glad the plastic gripped Cerakote Wrangler was on my hip instead of my Elk gripped blued 70’s vintage Single Six!

I like the wrangler better , but of all the single six handguns I have shot I never had one that shot 22 long rifle even match ammo very good , 22 mag. always shot pretty good , as for best it was a colt with convertible cylinder , have 2 single sixes but but I like the wrangler with shorter barrel then the single sixes I have , to each their own taste and preference

I bought a Wrangler for my grandson last year. And while it’s a decent little revolver I much prefer the pawn shop single six I bought several decades ago. That single six came with only the .22 LR cylinder and proved to be very accurate. A guy on another forum gave me a .22 Mag cylinder for it I had always heard that if a SS shot .22 LR well it wouldn’t shoot .22 Mags. My SS proved to be just as accurate with the mags. I’m glad that Ruger brought out the Wrangler as the SS has gotten pretty pricey these days.

I like mine. Ruger says dry firing is ok. I have dry fired it and doing so put marks where pin hits cylinder. Mine rolls cans well but have not benched it. What group sizes are you guys getting?

As I noted in another thread; I've tried the following ammo: Win. Bulk pack 36 grain rn, Win Super X 40 grain rn, CCI Minimag 36 grain rn, Remington Golden Bullets 40 grain rn, and CCI Standard Velocity 40 grain rn. The CCI Standard Velocity Target 40 grain rn grouped by far the best in my Ruger Wrangler. Course that was after I did the poor man's trigger job on it dropping pull down to 2 1/2 pounds. Spot on point of aim at 15 yards.

My buddy had one. It was far better than the rough riders he normally has. It shot okay. My beef was the loading gate was very stiff. I would have tinkered on it if it were mine. He traded it off just as quick as he acquired it.

I like mine but have a hard time with seeing the sights. The notch seems narrower than optimum for me.
