I am partial to the RCBS 45-230-RN. It's only a two cavity mold, but it sure casts some great boolits. I'll take quality over quantity any day, and it's built to last a lifetime.

Any copy of a H&G #34 is a good one. A real one is good too.

A popular belief is round nose ones feed better in un modified pistols.

I'm very new at this. I'm also on a tight budget, so I bought a Lee two cavity TL452-230-R2. I had previously used the DC432-228-R1, but had feed issues. The R2 solved that. It makes a decent bullet and with PC, clean to shoot.

I have an older Lyman 225 gr. RN mold that makes very good bullets. Works exceptionally well in my 3, 45 ACP guns...

I prefer RCBS over Lyman. I've seen too many "newer" lyman molds with problems and RCBS has ALWAYS had exceptional customer service.

The Lyman 452374 is essentially identical to the original .45 ACP bullet shape and casts easily. If you can find an old mold in good shape that would be the first choice in my book.

You can't beat this one for a 1911 style gun

I have started to cast the Lee TL452-230-R2. I bought the 6-cavity, at the very reasonable price of 44 dollars (I already had a set of the large Lee handles). I tumble lube these with 45/45/10. This boolit functions just fine in my gun. I’m happy.

If I was going to get a new mold I would go with Accurate molds, they are a real pleasure to cast with.

One more vote for Lyman 452374.

When powder coated they work great in my Glock 21 SF.

I shoot them with traditional lube and they work great.
Given the low pressure and the relatively low velocity, nearly any lube will do a good job. I use White label NRA 50-50.
This boolit profile simply doesn't fail to feed in any 45ACP.

I have used the lee 228 and 230 in my 1911's and in my glock g41's also use 200 r.n. h.p. and s.w.c. h.p. the last 2 being custom molds I had a 2 cavity 230 lee that I cast a lot of bullets with years ago and it has never failed to perform I like it better then the 228 and I used to use the tumble lube but have switched to powder coating , you did not say what you are shooting them out of , I let a guy I used to work with load his xdm and that had to be adjusted for the tighter throat

I started out with the RCBS 230gr RN and graduated to the magma 230 gr rn mold. I like the design of the magma better and its accuracy in my guns seems to be a bit better. I use it for 45acp and 45LC.

This pistol has been fed every profile in the books, the barrel is not throated so it doesn't do the Lee 452-200-RNF ...after all those profiles and various weights I have settled with the Lyman 452374 ... it just makes good sense to feed a 1911 what Browning designed it for.
