45LC rifle. Micrometer says .4509 on the slugged bore. The slug was actually a Speer swaged 250gr smacked to give some extra diameter for the test. The slug surfaces wore bright on all sides from the test.

With the conventional wisdom calling for a cast .452 boolit, is there any drawback to using .453?

None whatever, as long as it chambers without resistance.

I don't think so with the caveat Outpost75 typed. The truth will be in the trying.

I have a Marlin 45 LC, with a .451 bore, and I use bullets sized to .453. I would use .454, if they would cast that large from my mold.

What's the groove diameter of your barrel? The bullet should fit (or be slightly over) the grooves.
