Star .45 1911 worth??

Good morning all
I friend just passed away and he left his wife with a .45 Star 1911 type pistol.
She wants to get rid of it and I told her I that I would buy it from her but I do not know what they are worth.
Give me a range of what this pistol is worth..it is in fair condition...looks a little worn but all there.

I would go $ 300.00 myself. My wife shoots a star in 9 mm. Good little guns

I don't believe they made a 1911 parts compatible handgun?
So the issue is getting parts if needed is nearly impossible, making the value less than even like a economy priced 1911 clone, which is about $400 for a new RIA or similar.

Actual value will also vary as to which model it is?

We have a Star PD 45 ACP. They shoot great and $300 would be a fair price. They have an aluminum frame, check out the spring, they should be changed about every few thousand rounds. Get a chamber checker if you reload for it or chamber check each round they get kinda finicky. If it chambers your good to go.

I just checked Gunbroker’s closed auctions where Star .45 autos actually sold, and the bulk of them closed at between $320 and $375, to which I’d add shipping and transfer fees, so a price anywhere arond $400 would be reasonable, if the gun is in nice shape.

Most of the Star .45s seemed to be the Star PD compact.

gave $320 for a star 9mm largo model B .....got 10 mags from numrich's rebuilt those.

can't ask for more! like a 9mm on steroids.

I have a few stars but in 9 mm. They are great guns. Only problem is parts. If you ever need any good luck there is not much out there. If you can buy a new ria or another cheep brand for under 400$ I would go for that. At least parts for the 1911 will be around foreaver. The star parts are not compatible with a1911 and if it’s only in fare shape I would not even give 300$ for it when you can buy a new 1911 for around 380$ for some reason stars are hard to resale unless there cheep. Only place I found making parts is jack first gun shop. I really like my stars but they where bought cheep

It depends on which Star "P" is it, the original one, later ones, compact "PD", "P-Super", etc.

Is this a full size 1911-type pistol, same size as an Army 1911? If so, there aren't that many of them in circulation. I've wanted to add one to my accumulation for years, but they seldom come on the market -- especially in nice condition. So I'm going to say $550-$650. However, in your circumstances, widow of a friend and all, I'd say $500 should make everyone happy.

Stars are great quality pistols and if it is the full size .45 it is rare and worth more than a PD or Firestar. Once again I'm in agreement with DG.
