i have a 91 argentine mauser(well, its on the way) and a 93 spanish mauser(1922 or 23) that was bubba-ed up(so bad (puke)). i have a couple or several questions about them.

1. i like aperture sights (lyman, redfield, williams), esp vintage sights. is it possible to do a aperture on a 91 mauser? if it is, what kind?

2. what after market trigger(timney, jewell...) does a 91 argentine mauser fit on?

3. what after market trigger(timney, jewell...) does a 93 spanish mauser fit on?

thanks for your time and effort!!!

.

AFAIK, any receiver peepsight designed for the Mauser 93 will also fit Model 91's, 95's & 98's - just google "mauser receiver sight for sale". (D&T req'd)

Here are the various aftermarket Timney Mauser triggers. (Jewel does not make a trigger for Mausers)

If "mauser triggers for sale" is googled, there are usually discontinued Mauser triggers available (Bold, Jard, etc).

A Williams FP-98 might work for you. Why not phone Williams and discuss it with them? 800-530-9028.
Also, phone Timney at 866-484-6659. They have several triggers that might work.

Almost all firearms related products companies have experts in their particular products that are paid to sit by the phone and answer questions.
Why not use them?

As far as I remember , the 98 trigger will not drop in on a Small Ring Mauser action.
I have an aftermarket trigger on one of my small rings , but I can't remember if it was a Boyd or timnney.
But I mostly went to modifying the original triggers to an Adjustable Roller Ball trigger Modification on most of my Mausers.
It isn't that hard to modify the trigger Yourself.
And they work Great.

Very sorry to hear about your stroke. My wife had a severe one in 2010 that left her pretty much permanently disabled. Take care 444ttd.

1891 Mauser triggers are different than 93-96 triggers so verify it will fit before buying one. My 1891 sporter still has the factory trigger as although it has a longer pull it is smooth and has a crisp release which is fine for a deer rifle. Mine came drilled for a williams peep sight, but I replaced it with a Redfield.

Here's a pic of the trigger in my 1891 Argentine Mauser made by Loewe in 1893 where you can see how the trigger attaches and the bottom of the receiver in that area is different from later Mausers.

I must confess an admiration for the 1891 Argentine Mauser. Was the first high Power rifle I ever owned. Have two sporter and two bubba's set up in chopped 91 Mauser stocks. Gotta dig out my collection of Norma brass and anneal them before loading them up with cast bullets.Since only one is D&T for scope bases I'll start with that one. Since they were still building the 1888 Commission rifles in 8x57 Lowe still used the same trigger from the 1888 on the 1891 models Argentine,Chilean and the ones made for Peru. Rear sights were/are still made by Lyman SME or Springfield,Mauser, and Enfield. Williams made them in both the 5D and Foolproof and Redfield also made them prior to their going out of business. Origionally both the Lyman and the Redfield were made out of steel. Then Lyman and Redfield changed their materials to Aluminum. Think Williams always made theirs out of aluminum. Frank

timney does not make a 91 or 93 mauser. they do make a 98 mauser. dayton traister makes a 93 mauser trigger and also they have cock on opening kit. huber concepts has the 91 argentine trigger.
