View Full Version : TC Contender. 22 hornet 16in barrel
I picked up a super 16 22 hornet barrel when rimfire ammo was in short supply. I have noticed that the throat is considerably shorter than my 10" barrel. Has anyone else ran into this? Second question, any ideas for cast loads? I have the RCBS 22-55 and the Lyman 225415. As for powders, I have WW231, WW296, 2400, titegroup and lil gun.

I had two TC 22 hornet barrels a 10" and a 14" both throats were almost identical . I used the same COL for both barrels.
Never shot cast but using 4.1 grs of 231 @1400 fps and 4.8grs of 231@1600 fps from the 10" shot the bulk Hornady 55 gr sp with cannular, shot extremely well from both barrels. 1/2" or better at 50 yards scoped
Use a neck sizer or a full length die and only size enough of the neck to the length of the seated bullet . with 231 I used a std pistol primer.

I have a 10,16, and a 21 inch. The 16" has the tightest chamber I have ever seen on a factory chamber. Even the outside of the rim is tight. The 10 inch is just plain nice. The 21"has a very generous chamber and throat almost floppy. They all shoot good.
