Rossi Circuit Judge ammo build question...

I'm still not 100% sure that I get things posted in the right places...

I'm a research junkie and I've been trying, all weekend, to answer my own questions. I'm not having any luck at it. I have a very specific rifle I'd like to load for but I am not sure it will take the bullets I have on hand. The rifle is a Rossi Circuit Judge (.45LC/.410). I have about 100 bullets of jacketed flat nose soft point @ 250 gr.

Q #1) Can I fire this through this rifle and not damage the rifling in the barrel (or the gun in general)?

Q #2) I'm having serious issues trying to find good load data for this round. I can not find what I need in the Hornady or Lyman books that I have...

I have read mixed "opinions" as to being able to fire copper jacketed bullets through this rifle. I am actually trying to call Rossi's customer service line to ask them directly.

Good? Those bullets look fantastic! (I made them...)

From the Lyman 50th edition: 250gn JHP COAL of 1.590" the JHP is going to be a longer bullet than a same diameter solid point so you don't have to concern yourself with too small of a combustion chamber. I suggest a starting load of Unique at 7.8gn, with a max of 8.7gn.

A word of caution.. I watched a Judge pistol cease to work after two cylinders of factory made 45LC ammunition. The cylinder wouldn't turn anymore.

I have a 2.5" cylinder Judge, blue w/ 3" barrel and it does not like standard 45 Colt ammo at all. Checked the throats on the cylinder and all of them are close to 0.460" diameter. The barrel appears to be in excess of 0.455" also. Have not tried it yet, but have some soft cast lead 0.458" 300 grain bullets and if they chamber I think it will shoot much better.

Also, the instructions that came with the gun caution you not to shoot high pressure loads which I interpret to mean use only Colt Army pistol rated pressure loads. Based on the recoil of the 2.5" 410 S&B buck shot loads I don't want to shoot anything heavier.

The only other difference is cast and Jacketed bullets. I went by the book for BOTH loads.
