40s work and my 610 was one of the rarer 3 inch guns and it was one of the most accurate revolvers ive ever owned. Ive never heard of one that wasnt a shooter.

My 6.5" 610-2 is as accurate as I can hold. 40 brass is sooooo cheap, I don't remember the last time I used 10mm brass.

I am thinking santa may have one with him. I would think you can load a 40 case to what a 10mm would be but I not looking for that. The 460 will take care of the big stuff. I have a sig in 40s&w but dont like catching the brass I am right handed and I have to shoot left handed to catch with right LOL rick

You can actually load a 40 case heavier(given the same OAL), the web isn't as thick as the 10mm, and the small primer doesn't contribute as much to the bang. Depending on the gun, you can also load "Long 10's" which can approach a 41 mag's power pretty easily.

There are quite a few guys using them in ICORE with .40 S&W. I would say the most common guns are the 627-8, 625, and 610.

If you can stomach the lock in the side I believe they are making them again. I would prefer an older pre-lock one myself.

It's ironic I stumbled on this post. My wife wants me to pick out my Christmas present I looked at two 610's today one 4 inch and one 6.5 inch, probably go with a four, but also I'm torn between this and a custom shop 686 with a patridge front sight and that funky new squared tapered underlug the custom shop is putting out also in a 4 inch. I really like using full moon clips in my 625, and I'm partial to the 41 mag, seems like this would be close to a 41 with full moons.
What do you 610 owners think?
Wonder if I could talk her into a Ramadon or a Haunaka gift as well? Shoot in this new diverse age we are in maybe I could get all three.[smilie=w::twisted:

I have 2 610's that I've used very heavily in USPSA competition for several years using cast bullets only (magma 205 gr RN) in a 2 year period I ran 84,000 rounds down those 2 guns, no problems ever, very accurate & easy to make power factor using WST powder & 40 S&W cases. I'm 64 yrs old now & my competition days are pretty much over, bad knees, shoulders & eye sight. 18 months ago I was ranked #1 nationally in "A" class revolver, currently down to #4 or #5, haven't checked lately, doesn't matter anymore but it was fun while it lasted. These 2 guns carried me very well for a long time & still will outshoot most 625's.
A friend & I were at the range one day practicing for a match, we had been shooting for a couple of hours. As we were resetting some of the targets I looked back & this fox was walking past the pistol bays without a care in the world, as he disappeared around one of the berms I dashed back to the table where my empty gun was laying. I grabbed the gun, dumped a fresh 6 round moon clip in & took off around the berm, the fox was just starting to climb the berm at about 40 yds when the 205 gr RN slug punched him through both shoulders. That was the end of that grouse killer. Most shooters preferred the 625, I always thought the 610 was better, still do.

I found one that is the older classic . It is the 6 1/2 full lug non fluted cyl. I like the 40 it does have the power . Took a doe 2 years ago at 75 yds one shot with a sig 226. Bullet went in behind front shoulder and exited in front of other shoulder. No bone but a mess out of soft stuff. rick
