I recently acquired a minty 7x57 Remington Rolling block. Am wanting to shoot mostly cast bullets in this, an would also like to use it for hunting. Anyone have any good boolit suggestions, or load data they can point me to get started.

Koger,

Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook 3rd edition shows load data. Here is a link: http://marvinstuart.com/firearm/Manuals/Bullet%20Casting/Lyman%20Cast%20Bullet%20Handbook%20-%203rd%20Edition%20-%201980%20-%20Reduce.pdf
I don’t have or load this cartridge so I can not recommend a boolit. Hope this helps.

I really like the 7mm Thor.

The Lee 7mm boolits, both the regular RNGC and the RFGC from Midsouth, have shot exceptionally well for me in my 7mm TCU in the field for deer and on paper.

Quillbilly thanks for the reply. Garandsrus, can you give some more info on the Thor 7mm

Here is the 7mm Thor mold: https://noebulletmolds.com/site/?product=290-137-fn-f3-4-cavity-gc-7mm-thor

If you search castboolits, there is info here also. There was a group buy that didn’t work out. I don’t remember all the issues.

I am shooting the RCBS 145-Silhouette out of my Venezuelan carbine. I am working with 5744 with some positive results. Great caliber, by the way!

How is the chamber in your RB. Mine is oversized in the neck area and splints the brass at the neck on the first reload. I plan on annealling if I shot it often enough which is not likely. They are known for this.

Have you checked throat and groove diameter? Also throat length, as the old RCBS 168 grain mould is really a long boolit, but if you are after a hunting boolit, it’s got the sectional density and flat nose the lighter designs don’t have.
