9x19 semi auto question

I was digging around in my bring home brass and discovered that I wound up with a handful of my cousins 9mm brass, (I load for nothing semi auto yet) and looked at it in passing and said "that ain't round". Sure enough, measure one way across the outside of the mouth and it's .3735 and the wide is .3865. Grabbed another, yupp pretty much the same. Should I be worried about his new pistol, or is this normal for a semi auto? Opinions welcome

The side of the case mouth may be hitting the slide or barrel during its ejection.

Ok. Like I said I don't load semi auto pistol brass yet...all my revolver brass is at least visually round. These were off enough I could see it. The 40 brass in the same bucket weren't as bad either. I was a bit worried, about nothing i guess. Never a load issue better safe and ask I guess

LOL, yep, typical on some semi-autos. Also changes with bullet weight and load. Sometimes a mild load will ding worse than a heavy and sometimes the reverse will happen. Change recoil spring and it will also affect it. Let the pistol get dirty and that can also affect it.

I love reloading for revolvers. Really light loads, heavy bullet loads, high velocity loads, all work just fine. Semi-autos not so much. The cycling action can require very specific loads, especially with lighter bullets.

PS some cases will be dinged enough so they do not fit in the resizing die. Use an expanding die to open them up to round. Lee's powder through expanding die works well for this as will the Lyman M die.

I don't see "dings" which I did look for just an out of round mouth. Which I was where I was a might worried. I had a revolver years back that did this and it was a chamber issue. It was cut bad. Lead to extraction issues. Nothing like that here YET
