7mm Mauser Rolling block arrived today.

I had traded for this online, with a guy about a week before Christmas and had him wait till the day after to ship it. He had sent me several detailed pics, but I was skeptical a rifle made in 1897, could be this good, but traded for it anyway. All I can say is he way undersold it! The case colors are close to 100%, vivid and clear. The Remington rollmark looks brand new, the blue on the barrel has some small spots of rust, but bright bluing on the barrel, breechblock and hammer and all the furniture. Has the correct military sights front and back, and a pristine bore, obviously shot very little, and not with corrosive ammo. I shot it with the sights set for 200yds and it shot about 3" low at 140yds, but kept them close together, I would say about a 3"group, this was offhand leaning against a post just to get a idea of where it was shooting before dark. I shot some older Hansen 140gr sp stuff, ejected great, no issues with the cases, sealed off and did not soot them up on the neck and shoulder, no cracked necks. This ammo is pretty warm, but I had confidence in the rifle. I need to order a good mold for this, as that is what I want to shoot the most of in this good example of this ilk. Gotta love when you feel you came out ahead on a trade! Sounds like you got a winner, so a great KY buck and a beautiful new/old rifle in the same year; buy a lottery ticket!

be careful with the rolling block....if you puncture the primer or if there is gas blow-back the gas will flow through the firing pin hole toward your eyes.
wear glasses if possible.
