Would the small square plastic insert be causing the problem?

It may also be that the rod has gotten out of adjustment. This can be corrected by adjusting/turning the square nut on the top of the rod that goes into the turret.
Here is a link to the instructions for the turret press. Included are instructions on how to correct the indexing problems.

The plastic square that slides up and down the spiral wears out.

Mine never did fully index out of the box. It just barely misses the detent by a hair. I just leave my hand onto the press and nudge it into the detent with my finger as I work the primer feed.

Put a small crescent wrench on the index rod to hold it in place and move the turret head to the position it needs to be. That will adjust the square on the index rod. If that doesn't work, the you might need a new plastic square.

Could be dirty also. I oiled mine big mistake! it gathered enough powder and dust it stopped engaging the ratchet. Stopped turning. Cleaned the oil and junk off and it works fine.

I replace the plastic square occasionally. While the clamshell is open I clean it out thoroughly.

I keep the rod itself clean and I lube it by spraying some silicon spray on a paper towel and wiping the steel rod.

Lastly I put two or three tiny drops of oil on the top of the press where the turret rides. I use Mobil One for this as I have a lot of it but any lube works.

Try it, it works.

I used graphite on the turret, replaced the plastic bushing, no good!
I put the square rod in the vise and moved the square nut and bingo!

On advice from my reloading mentor, I removed the indexing rod altogether and manipulate the turret by hand.
Never had a problem! [emoji6]

I have been using a Lee 3 hole turret press and a Lee Pro1000 for a long time and I use White Lithium Grease on the indexing rod, turret head and the ram. Just put a small dab on my finger tip and spread it around.

One note I found over the years that might be relevant on this thread........try not to turn the turret backwards, it wears the plastic square more quickly. I picked up a bag of them from lee when my first ran out after about 1,000 pistol rounds.
