My wife rocks! Even though its 2 days before Christmas and we just sunk $1200 into car repairs, at the worst possible time I find a bucket list gun at an unbelievable price. And she says "Just go buy it!"

Went to a LGS to check out a K38 for a friend that really doesn't know revolvers, wanted me to give it a once over. I was there for over half an hour before I saw it, a nickel 8 3/8ths inch M27-2, with the 3 T's!!!! I've been looking for about 3 years and have seen exactly zero, except online and priced WAYYY up there. Some of you may recall I "settled" for a 6 inch blue 27-2 last spring. But I really wanted a long shiny one.

It was tight as a drum, and looked really clean. And the price tag said $900. Darn, I have no fun money right now.

Well, I told wife, said I'd like to try a layaway. I've never bought a gun that way, but I didn't want to lose this one. She said go for it!

So I went back today, I was almost embarrassed to ask, but I did say "Is this the best you can do?" And the nice lady said, "Well, it's Christmas. I can knock $30 off." Sold!

I just snapped a few qiick pix at the store

I think I stole this at $870. I'm no expert, but this gun looks 98-99% to me.

What do you all think?

Absolutely beautiful.

I have left a note for my dealer to inform me of all 8 3/8". I have a 586,it is fine but has started eroding.

Beautiful revolver. Be careful of what cleaner you use on it.

I have one in blue that's my favorite revolver. I recently bought a 17-2. It's my 2nd favorite revolver. I love those 8 3/8 inch barrels.

My will would be sorely tried if I found a 27 with a 5 inch barrel. My brother had one and I absolutely lusted after that revolver. Another one would be a Model 58. I have a 57 but would love to find a really nice copy of the 58 that I could afford. You did yourself proud with that Smith. Merry Christmas, james

Nothing like a good N-frame. I've had a few Model 27s over the years.

That's a really nice looking gun you got, should be a great shooter too. I'd have stretched the wallet and brown bagged a lunch for awhile to pick that one up for that price.

You, sir, are a lucky man. Not just for getting such a fine revolver, but for having such a wife.

I'm lucky in that my very first M-27 was an 8-3/8" bbl with the 3 T's,, but was blued. I later got a 5" M-27 thanks to Skeeter Skelton's praises. Well, that first M-27 was responsible for my first handgun deer,, from the door of a Huey no less.
Well, being young,, I allowed it to go to a friend, and besides,, I had a 5" that I really liked as well. Well, the 5" gun left when a guy offered me a lot of $$,, and I found a second 5" gun. Same thing,, lots of $$ and then #3 in 5" came along. Then, in about 1984,, after I SWORE I'd keep my 3rd 5 incher,, a guy really wanted it,, and I kept refusing to sell. Then,, he asked me to "just for fun, make a price." I threw out a really high number,, and he took it. I sold my 4th M-27 that I'd owned from 1977 until 1984. I figured I'd be able to find another one.
Not as easy as I thought it would be.
In 2015 I found another blued M-27 in 8-3/8" at a very good price at an auction. I was soon followed by a 5" M-27.
I still have both of them,, and now,, I will not offer them nor price them to anybody.

The 8-3/8" bbled ones are sweet for sure. Finding a nickled one is even harder,,,, ! KUDOS on a fine Christmas & having a loving & understanding wife!

Maybe not a 8 3/8ths barrel but have one of the S&W 624's with the 6.5" barrel. And yes its a 44 special. With the Win 200 grain silvertips factory ammo at roughly 900 fps its like shooting wadcutters out of a model 15. Frank

So shiny! That one would be so much fun. One of my late best friends used a 8-3/8” m57 .41 on everything and it was a delight. .38 wadcutters will be a hoot; let Mama shoot it!
