Very unique looking wood; what caliber? And if you feel you got a deal then merry Christmas indeed! My own Christmas present won’t arrive until Christmas Eve; and my son only being 14 months old I don’t know for sure how he knew or how he ordered it and payed for it but when it arrives I’ll love it! And if the wife asked how much it costs I’ll
Say it doesn’t matter it was a gift from our son!

+1 on the Maple. I'd like it even better un-checkered but that's just me......looking forward to the shooting report!
I vote Weaver, Redfield, Burris or Leupold 4x for the optic.

Love the curly maple stock. Still kick myself for not getting a Browning TBolt in maple. That was purty too

Merry Christmas to you!
I've scoped several Marlin 336's and the challenge I've found is to get the scope low enough. Glass wise I have Leupold 1-4 scopes with the straight tube. I have found Nikon two piece bases along with Burris super low Zee rings to work best. Since Burris quit making the super low rings several years ago I have used their low rings satisfactorily.
Good Luck, and enjoy your new rifle,
Rick

She's beautiful. Didn't think I would like the contrast but nice. Congrats.

I am a fan of the old steel tube Weavers . Got a K3 on my BLR but haven't scoped one of the Marlins yet . I'd find me a V4.5 for that . It's a 1.5x -4.5x straight tube and short enough to look good on your 336 . No fine or dot reticle for the woods , regular thickness , Duplex or post would be my choice . As far as mounting goes I can't advise as I haven't scoped my Marlins yet . I put a set of Williams Fire Sights on the 1895 .45-70 and am still using factory sights on the 1894CB in .45 Colt . I will say that I have always used Leupold windage adjustable rings and bases when I can and have never been sorry I did . The Browning has a set of vintage Weaver rings and base and it's as low as you can get a scope and still access the hammer without an extension .

Merry Christmas !
Eddie

It is an eye catcher, and it would look better without the dark checkering. Just my opinion.

Excuse me for saying this, and it is no slight towards you or your gun, but, Remington should know better.

Pretty wood but they should have left the checkering natural IMHO. The little 1x4x20 Leupold would be just right on it.

A Leupold 2x7 gives you a good woods and range power combination. Aesthetically they are a very proportionately pleasing addition. Just the right size!

My Marlin 1895 (don't have a 336) has an old Weaver pivot mount. It's handy when the light gets low during the last of legal shooting hours. To make it even better, that little brass bead in th front sight ramp has been replaced by a Trijicon tritium dot.

Very much early 1960s retro. I love it. A steel Weaver K4 is the required topping.

wood is gorgeous. very nice curl, would also look nice with Aqua Fortis stain, like the old maple stocked muzzle loaders.

that's one very nice firearm you got there. Luv that maple stock, there'll be lots of traditionalist nay sayers, but that's why theres different woods and stains available. Take what you like don't worry about the crowds likes or dislikes.
