I sadly report that Bob Smoke (AKA Hardcast416taylor) passed away last night after a several month battle with cancer. He will be missed but is free of pain and suffering now. Rest in peace my friend.

Sad that he's gone but glad he's no longer suffering, I know the pain was getting worse. I'll be praying for Ruth and the rest of the family.

Bob was a good guy.

God rest his soul. Prayers sent for his family. Always polite and straight up in his posts; he will be missed. Whenever I think of the .416 Taylor, I think of Bob- NOT Robert Chatfield Taylor. And will continue to do so.

Make that Hardcast416Taylor

I asked for prayers a number of times for Robert as he was fighting cancer. I didn't say why at the time as he didn't give me the go ahead but did say asking on a general basis was ok by him. He appears to have lost his fight as I sent a pm a little while ago, didn't hear back and now see his signature has changed.
Robert helped me out on a number of occasions over the last several years with excellent insight, tips and guidance on a number of shooting topics especially my new to me 416 Ruger. He always pm'd me back promptly with advice I'll be hard pressed to replace

If you have time please remember him with a prayer.

Very sad! I saw this in the "In Remembrance" area a little before Christmas. He donated a few cartridges to my collection, all big thumpers!

RIP Bob, you are missed!

I post about Bob's departure a while back. Sometimes it is hard to know where to post something so I took a shot at posting it here.

I missed that as it's not one of the pages I visit here. I last spoke with Bob in late October or early November and he told me of the hard time he was having getting around. I sent him a pm afterwards but didn't hear back. I chalked it up to an optimistic holiday thing and went looking just a few days ago when I didn't hear from him. Much is lost without him on this sight. Thanks for posting that when you did.

Sad to loose those we converse and communicate with here on this site. Though we may never meet face to face, they are still our friends and comrades.

My condolences to Robert's family and loved ones.

Wow! Sorry to hear this. 2nd one today, too. 416 was one of the posters that I usually paid particular attention to. I think his attitude and grace was one of the reasons for this, not to mention his knowledge and experiments. He will indeed be missed. God be with him and his family and friends.
