A friend I know has aging eyes, but dearly loves getting venison with his Rossi 1892. He'd like to mount a scope but doesn't want to make major mods on the rifle. I though someone might know of a receiver side mount similar to the one for the m94 and could point me in the right direction. Can someone point me in the right direction?

A scout scope mount might be the easiest way to go. I have to admit I'm not too comfortable with long eye relief scopes but that is surely because I haven't used them much, and many people do use them. I think I'd be tempted to use a red dot scope on a Scout Mount. I have seen side mounts on Rossi's. I imagine the side mounts for the older 1894 Winchesters (pre-AE model) would work but would require getting the gun drilled and tapped.

A M94 mount wil work just fine on a 92 if you want drilll and tap and offset. If you don't want an offset scope a scout mounnt will work and I bbeliever B Square has one for the M94 that will work.

B-Square or WHOEVER!
Until Rossi/Taurus decides to release their NEW Scout Scope mount as an after market item, we are faced with gunsmithing to get a Scout Mount.
There are many variables. The first hurdle is the over sized dovetails on the bbls. There are NO blanks produced commercially. If you want to "Bubbar" one on I'd use the product from XS sights and some fiberglass. You can't screw it up too bad and if you do it will come off with a heat gun.
Anyone who needs specific recommendations should be able to show the FA in question so that details can be considered. The puzzle is simple after all the pieces are put together.
Good luck. Pepe Ray

Could always use a Marlin '94.

There is a guy in Colorado who sells a
No gunsmith (no drilling and tapping extra holes) scope mount for Winchester and Rossi lever actions. Good guy to work with too. Hold on a second

I have not seen it but I believe there is a mount that fits in the rear sight dovetail and one can put a red dot on it easy. This would be my method when the eyes say its time. Regards Stephen

.

If the Model 92's rear barrel sight dovetail is about 4" from the front of the receiver, and if the owner's OK with D/T'ing the top of the front of the receiver, that XS LeverScout rail for a Winchester 94 will fit - he just needs a scope with the proper eye-relief (I used a Weaver 2X28 handgun scope).

Pearson....http://mod94scoperail.com/purchase.html Yes I have his mount on a Winchester 1894 30/30 that was made in 1948, and it works great. Basil Pearson is a great guy to deal with, as I had the chance to talk to him on the phone. His mount is A+.
