what grease for Hornady LNL AP

I have a Hornady LNL progressive and there is 3 grease point

what grease do you use?

and what grease guns do you use also

I use the same one I use on the car. Mystik Red or similar. Honestly my LNL AP has a better life than my ball joints do.

I would wager that keeping dust from getting on the greased surfaces is more critical than which grease you use. A moly grease is something to consider since drying out or displacement of a given grease (with moly) still gives some protection.

Hi...
I bought a generic grease gun with grease cartridges from Home Depot for my two LnLs.
No idea what the brand name is but after multiple thousands of rounds produced in each machine, I would have to say it works just fine.
Wasn't terribly expensive.
Everytime my son and I tear them down for maintenance we grease everything that requires it according to the maintenance manual.
My grease gun and cartridges will last for many years of machine maintenance for a minimal financial investment.

I use the same thing just grease gun and general purpose grease like the small ones from HD. 83103 rounds later still works great

I just grab the one I use on the car & truck.

If it'll work for the truck suspension, I can't imagine what the AP will ask of it that any automotive grease couldn't handle.

will try to find a grease that stay's soft even expose to air because the one I use now and looking at the expose grease ring on the ram it looks like it dry and not dispensing grease on the ram

I quit using grease on the ram. Motor oil works better for me as the grease seems too thick. Still grease the other zerks. And moly is too much of a mess although I use some on the pawls.

made a search and red grease is similar to 00 grease grade
00 stand for fluid
red grease is sticky grease ?

I use molly grease on tractors and heavy equipment so what is in my grease gun is what any fittings get.
With fittings I find it's better to give a little squirt often than a big squirt occasionally it only takes a second or two.

Partial squirts on a repeat basis and I would remove excesses with a clean shop rag.

My LNL AP does not store much grease anywhere and it has a grease donut at either end of the ram.

Shortly after I got my press I called Hornady and asked that question too. I seem to remember the gentleman saying that I won’t need to add grease. I’ve been wiping the ram with gun oil and it seems fine.

I even dl'd a manual,can't find any. I have sprayed light oil to moving/touching parts during the years.

tuff oil seems to be a excellent oil. very thick

The same grease that goes in my backhoe. It's made by Chevron, and it's red.

That's a older 'Pro-Jector'.

I had one several years ago.
When the 'AP' came out, it has the grease fittings, a whole new primer system,
and a very much improved case activated powder dispenser that will interchange and fit your older one.

Try Amsoil 20-50 Racing Oil. I use it on all of my machines in the shop.

Heavy grease really slows the ram on mine. I as to remove the red tacky grease I’d used just yesterday and replaced it with white lithium. It does t really matter what you use anything will protect the parts well enough.
