Gentlemen, I would like to replace the plastic grips of my stainless Ruger MKII, made in 2004. What I was able to find in Finland is a Ruger-made set with thumbrest called RCPT 100, apparently similar to that of the Competition Target model pistol.

However, a Norwegian website here claims that their RCPT 100 is for the MKIII only and does not fit the MKII or other models.

Obviously the MKIII has magazine release next to the trigger guard and I believe the MKIII grips have a little extra inlet for that. This doesn't seem to be enough to make the grips unfit for the MKII though. Is there some other difference in the frame design?

I would have to agree with you. I bet they would fit.

came across this http://grips4guns.com/handgun_grips/RugerMK_II.html

NOTE: All Ruger Mark III grips will fit the Ruger Mark II grip frame, however Mark II grips will not fit a Mark III grip frame.

It should fit. I believe the only difference between the MK II and MK III grips may be the little semi-circular inletting on the left grip. That will allow the magazine release, which has moved from the butt of the weapon to the side of the frame.

Thanks for the advice, fellows.

I just called to the retailer this morning and, unfortunately, grips have been sold out for a while now. These were some old lot from the importer and there is no more grips coming...
