This image was scanned from an original linen newspaper from 1864.
This was a wood block carving that was typically used in newspapers
in that era. Pretty cool...

I have family all over that area from one end to the other but mostly around Staunton, Waynesboro, Verona, Fishersville, West Augusta, Deerfield, etc.. Lots of history in that area, for sure...

That’s neat , I live right in the middle of where the battle of Port Republic took place . Lots of history in the Valley.
