7mm rimfire???????????

I bought a bunch of cheap guns off a guy and in the bunch was a Belgian Flobert "parlor" rifle. Extractor is stamped "28". The bore mics .284-.286" (depending on where calipers land). SO, I assume this is some sort of 7mm rimfire. I have never seen a Flobert that was NOT rimfire. Granted, I don't know a whole lot about them but has anyone heard of such a cartridge?

I would check to see if the firing pin is in the center of the bolt or positioned to one edge. That will tell if it is rimfire or centerfire.

Developed for indoor shooting galleries with special "gallery guns", the .22 BB Cap (6mm Flobert) was the first rimfire cartridge, dating back to 1845. It has no separate propellant charge, relying on the impulse created by the primer alone to fire a round lead ball.

The 6mm Flobert caps can be purchased from an air gun supply store. I use them in 32 Long RF brass, modified with a larger primer pocket and a cut for the firing pin to ignite the caps

Weird. My sources know nothing of a 7mm rimfiire, and I too have never read of or seen a Flobert that wasn't rimfire. Although I admit that I have zero love for Floberts of any kind, so maybe I'm ignorant.

Oh, wait - there was once upon a time in Europe a 7mm shotgun shell. Is that barrel smoothbore or rifled?

I just simply googled "7mm Flobert" and it brings up a bunch of links to both shotshell and ball cartridges, click on images and you will find lots of 7mm Flobert rim fire (ball) cartridge pics.

Henry has a new smoothbore lever-action in 22LR being classified as their new "Garden Gun" If I was looking for a smoothbore lever-action shotgun for "Garden Pest" removal, I'd opt for their three .410 models instead to have a selection of shot loads to handle everything from barn and "tree" rats and other small critters with target shells and .410 duplex and slugs for bigger "varmints" at close range.

the 7mm Flobert cartridge might be able to be duplicated by using a .27 caliber nail blank but I would definitely make sure I removed the original lose powder and insure you don't removing the rimfire primer ring or you
