Back in the early 1960's, Lyman would send you 2-4 sample boolits from a mold you had asked about... as a young man I am sure that I bothered them more than a couple of times asking for samples! The very first gun I reloaded for was for a $17 DCM M-1 carbine and I well recall getting several samples of candidates for that cartridge. And, yes, that $17 was the right from US Sam the correct price, plus $3 for shipping. 1911's were as I recall, $11 but for some reason I didn't get one.

Got one of those cheep .45 ACP DCM 1911's "back then".
MPLS, MN Railway Express Guy said he hada "clothes hamper full a day" arriving at his office.
Shot the hell out of it over the decades. Holding up Just Fine!
(Survived the Tender Mercies of my "Climbing The Learning Curve" .45 ACP handloads
with all el Cheapo weird powders Hodgdon was selling back then.)

Already hada .30 carbine so tried to not be TOO GREEDY - let some other young NRA guy get one cheep before they ran out.
Today greedy olde phart (what wifey calls) "White Male Trump Nazi" GONRA figgers THAT was misplaced "Bleeding Heart Benevolence".
Tymes Change..... Oh Well....
