Got your attention didn't it. Here's the wife's this year cow taken with a Remington 700, 50 caliber muzzle loader. One shot at 50 yards using a 400 grain conical ahead of 100 grains of Goex FFG. With some difficulty we convinced her, the elk, to climb the tree and get on top of the jeep. That way we didn't have to drive two hours home251312251313 and back for the trailer.

Just drag it behind next time. By the time you get home, you won't need to skin it!

Nice elk!

I also have a wrangler TJ , but no roof rack. I once draped a black tail over the spare tire. At least I didn’t have to smell him on the way home. Good job with the elk !

Congratulations to your wife. I am rather jealous as I have went to CO and WY several times after a cow Elk and have not even had a shot at one. Same with Moose, I have taken 3 trip to Canada to try for them ( archery ) and have yet to draw a arrow on one.:???:
Looks like you have it under control, good thinking !

We found one of those tree climbers too, but had to haul it and it's friend out on a 4 wheeler...

You really need to get the hide off and the carcass quartered immediately. You're asking for spoiled meat.
