took some loads to the range today and put them over a chrony
the chrony was set up about 5m in front of the rifle I was shooting a CBE 313-215 with hornady gaschecks I think I have put a bit to much Linotype in my mix as the boolits weigh in at 205gr as cast they were droping at about .313"
first load was 28gr of H4895 for 5 shots averaged 1437fps
2nd load was 30gr of H4895 for 5 shots averaged 1586fps
3rd load I used 32gr of Varget for 5shots averaged 1569fps
the 28gr load shot about 2.5"-3" groups at 100m
the 30gr load shot about 2" groups
the best load so far has been 32gr of Varget it put 4 shots into 1.5" with a flier that was caused by the loose nut behind the butt
there was no signs of leading at all the bullets are lubed with LLA sized in a .314 and relubed with LLA I'm thinking of just concentrating on the Varget load maybe coming up 1-2 grs and seeing what happens
I would like to use the load in a 3p shoot at my local range which consists of 15 rounds at 100 10 rounds at 200 and 5 rounds at 300
is anyone else using Varget in there Nagant?

What is the ES for those loads? A 3/4 gr dacron filler will help with consitancy of ignition with both those powders.

Hi Larry the ES for the 28gr load was 33fps the 30gr load 55fps and the 32gr load with Varget was 63fps yet the last load appeared to group the best I didnt look at the SD figures
JeffinNZ your right it is a great bullet it was my first CBE mould it won't be the last I have a few 303's it will be getting a run in I have a 1920 lithgow with a new heavy barrel that slugs at .312" that needs to be introduced to lead boolits

Another filler is PSB Shot Buffer.

I love PSB filler. I've found I can shoot undersized (.001") bullets in my SMLE's with great accuracy and no leading if I use PSB. When I do run out of it, however, I'm oing to try some Dacron.
