So here's my question. I have the opportunity to purchase a new 1894C in 32-20 with 22" barrel. My concern is the 12 groove Micro-groove rifling. I would like to use cast bullets, probably Oregon, but wonder how well they would shoot. Sure could use some good advise.

Buy it. Micro-groove rifling has been wrung out extensively and the guys with info are here. Do a search on Micro- groove and you'll find out what you need to know. I'd also suggest getting your own mould. The commercial casts boolits I've used have all been too hard, some are undersized (especially for a MG), and many have bevel bases. Better to get a decent FB or GC and cast them soft eniguh to work. Straight WW should be fine at 32WCF velocity.

I have had decent results with Hornadys soft swaged 32 cal boolits. I'm not sure how they work in a MG though.

I have one of the newest 1894CL 32-20's as well as an older one . Heck I have four Marlin's in 32-20 !

And they all shoot cast well !

I prefer however the no longer made Lyman 311316 mold . This is a 115 grain gas check mold that you should be able to find on ebay fairly easily !

I also like the Lyman 311419 , this is also no longer made . But is a 90 grain GC mold that you should be able to find on ebay as well !

And last but not least ! Ranch Dog has a 312-115 mold in the works as we speak ! I should be able to get a test mold in the next couple weeks and give this one the once over !

When I was living in PA for a few months and didn't have all my stuff up there I loaded these bullets for the 32-20 and the 32 MAG (rifles)!

They shot well enough for squirrels at 25 yards !

Buy it - we know how to make the MG barrels shoot.
