You can throw this out if you don't see the humor in it.

These are all the conversions I currently do. Parent case on left.

L to R

5.56 to .222 Rem.
5.56 to 7.62x25 Tokarev
9 Luger to 9x18 Makarov
7.62x51 to 7mm08 Rem.
7.62x51 to .243 Win.
.270 Win. to 6.5x55 Swede
.270 Win. to 8x57 Mauser
.30-06 milspec. to .45 shotshell
.30-06 milspec. to .25-06 Rem.
6.5 Carcano to 7.35 Carcano
.303 British to 6.5x53R Dutch

Most difficult: 5.56 to 7.62x25
Least difficult: 6.5 Carcano to 7.35 Carcano

For me, it's not always about availability. Most of the converted brass is available, but the parent case is available in bulk much cheaper. That, and it gives me a chance to get to the reloading bench :bigsmyl2:.

Oops; Don't try to get that little extra squeeze in on the bullets. Or be more careful with sizing the neck down.

I’ve had that happen before. Not quite that extreme but thankfully they wouldn’t chamber!

Newbie question, once this happens, is the case toast or will resizing bring it back to usable?

Basically the cases are toast. Scrap metal or maybe cut them down to resize for something else. They won't fit into a die to be resized when the shoulder collapses like that.

Hey Mac: Like all the casing conversions you do! Wish there was a cheap way to form up 6.5 Carcano. have been buying Norma and Priv-Paritsan to load. Have a 1914 Fiat-Rivelli water cooled that eats em up 400 rounds / minute! The head on 308 is too big. AK 7.62x39 is too short.
