Would you guess that it is a fungus or a type of seed pod?
What does it smell like?

Some palms have funky seed pods.

That is weird.

Florida is a magnet for invasive species.

This one is probably from several light years away.

Don’t think I’d eat it on a survival trip. Hoping someone IDs it as I’ve never seen one before. Thanks for the interesting replies so far...

Looks like something a vegan would eat. Bad hunter.

No idea! But if they were on your porch, they must have come from nearby, I'd think. Got a County Extension Agent/Office nearby? Ask them.

Great idea. That or a nearby University/College might have someone who could ID them.

Mighty curious looking isn't it... I have not ever seen something like that , that I can recall. At first it reminded me of some kind of corn.

G'Luck!

P.S> - How do ya think they got on your porch? Wind? Maybe there is some of the original plant nearby you could look at & take pics as well... ???

762 is on to something, looks like it may be a palm flower bud.

After going & looking at some of the images from NYFirefighters357 link, I think it may be a Sago Palm "pod". Here are some pics:

Could be it!

Nice guesses, 762 shooter & NYFirefighter357

If it not the Above: perhaps it could be a Coconut bud:

Or maybe part of a Yucca plant:

Yep.. Best to ask someone who is an expert of the like to find out.

Not anything from a yucca, I have had yucca plants in my yard for years. Never saw anything that remotely looks like the OP's picture on any of them.
Interesting post, going to keep watching.

I think you might have got it... I just used a search engine for images of that plant & I think you nailed it.

I could bring the pics here like I did the lst time I posted, but I am just going to place the keyords/terms I used for the search & let everyone else take a look & see what they think...

The keywords were:

monstera deliciosa fruit images

Just copy & paste those words in a search enine & see what ya think...

Check it out!
;)

I don't think I would eat one either, BTW. Maybe on a good bet I might.

Pretty good chance it is the fruit/seed of some of you tropical flora ..and has become a food favorite of some critter who frequents your porch ..hence it's transport to your adobe

Yep, take a walk around and you will probably find where it came from. As to what it is I have no idea. If you find the plant take some photos and go to the local nurseries and the may be able to ID it.

Close.

The leggy looking things attaching to the interior is what I'm missing in the monstera pics. Monstera looks almost like a corn kernel.
