I have 2 300 blackout guns.. Its an excellent cartridge for heavy subsonic loads
one is an older style Ruger American bolt action with the rotary mag and the other is an SBR AR15
The Ruger would feed any cartridge up to and including just about any 220 grain bullet but not reliably the NOE 311-247 HP which is what I wanted to shoot
same with the AR.
Polished the lugs back a little on the AR15 (opening the ramp wider for the fatter profile bullets) ect ect
Tryed just about every mag I could get my hands including on MagPul P mags ver M2 and M3, multiple steel mag companies ect ect.
Nothing would feed 100% reliable most not even 50%
well finally got my hands on a Lancer 20 rd mag . To my amazement it feeds the NOE 311 247 HP powdercoated bullets like butter
a happy camper I am :) :)

probably going to convert the Ruger bolt action over to the new AR mag fed version

for those that want to try it part # 99-000-4280-06 order directly from Lancer and choose USPS shipping ($4.40 shipping) . had mine in 4 days

the lancer 300bo mags are nice. i use them and the 300bo pmags in my 300ham'r, and while they both work fine, i do find that i prefer the lancer. now if they were just a couple bucks cheaper.

I found out quickly that dedicated 300 bo mags are the way to go. They run much better then 556 mags even modified. Ive got magpuls, lancers and the steel D&H 300 bo mags and they all work great. Out of all of them I like the magpuls best. But the main reason I choose them over the lancers is price. Lancers are great mags but there pretty proud of them. I probably have 75 p mags in 556 300 bo and 308 and ive yet to have a problem with a single one of them. Actually the H&H steal 300 bo mags run perfect in my 3 guns too.

I had no problems with any brand dedicated 300 blkout mags either till I tryed to shoot the 200 grain plus bullets. Pmag M3's would handle Hornday 220 Rd most of the time.
when I got to the NOE 247 grn no brand mag would work reliably till I tryed the Lancers. They are 100%

don't doubt you a bit. heaviest cast bullet I shot with any of those mags is a 150 grain.

If you convert the Ruger, take pictures and please post the process. I have been thinking the same thing.

Thanks

I have magpul 30s and lancer 20s for 300 AAC mostly what I use are the Remington 220 subs and they all work. I don't use anything except store bought ammo in a rifle that stays at the ready for home defense.

With the price of 220gr SMK, factory stuff can be bought at 65¢ on sale right now for the Remington Subs and it’s almost cheaper to buy than load (but what’s the fun with that). I’m strictly talking 220gr SMK guys. I know it’s cheaper to roll my own PC stuff. I also really like the 220 SMK Remington factory stuff.

D&H does make AR mags, and they do them in 300BO flavors also. palmetto, dsg arms, brownells and others sell them. i have never used their 300bo mags, but their standard ar magazines are well known, and good quality.

My apologies, I should've been more clear. I have Lancers for my 7.62x40 WT that work perfectly. Good mag.s !

Loyde referenced H&H Steel magazines, which I tried to search and only got only references to Sports and Fashion.

Again I had no issues in the AR with multiple companies mags till I got to about 200 Grns. Magpul M3's would feed Hornady 220 fine but None would feed the Noe 311-247 reliabily till I tryed the Lancers
I am just passing it along so others might shorten their search if shooting 230-247 Grn projectiles
